I didnt know if anyone else had the opportunity to save at the gas tank like we have been able to do one of the gas stations out here has started a program where if you purchase certain items off a current list of "special" items you are able to lower your price of gas per gallon - they have given thier customers gas savings cards that are scanned at the time of purchase - last week we were able to save .18 cents per gallon - well my husband has decided this is his mission in life now and goes to the station twice a day to purchase a fountain drink for .79 cents which in turn he is able to subtract .06 per day off of his gas purchase - not a bad deal with the exception of having to relief himself a few more times a day - what this man wont do to save money at the gas pump - i have a surplus of doublemint gum (saves you .02 at the pump) and my jaws are sore trying to keep up - the kids well they are lovng it now that dad is happy to buy them the occasional candy bar (.01) - weve only had one disagreement when i bought a drink at a place other than the gas station and finally was forced to promise to reimburse him the .03 a gallon so far this week (and its only wednesday) he has .32 cents accummulated on his gas savings card so were down to 1.30 a gallon - hes shooting for a 1.00 off a gallon - god love him

Clever, but maybe unhealthy? Are you really saving more than you're spending?

Cheers.

That's a neat idea. Of course, it seems to be a lot like coupons . . . it only helps if you are buying things you would have bought anyways. We pay over $2.10 for gas and it seems to climb higher all the time . . . yuck. Thanks for sharing this.

I live on an Army base, so I pay less than most on the island . . . the closer you get to Honolulu, the higher the gas prices are . . . it goes up to around $2.30 in some places. Some of the other islands pay even more. I'm like you, though . . . I don't use a lot of gas. I can get away with spending as little as $100/mo. on gas.
